Also known as thighplasty, thigh lift is a procedure that eliminates unwanted fat accumulation, cellulite and sagging skin around the thighs caused by aging and/or substantial weight loss. The procedure helps improve the overall thigh contour and helps create smoother, tighter looking skin. Woodglen Aesthetics offers various types of thighplasty approaches designed to target specific areas of the thigh and achieve firmer upper legs.
- Inner Thigh Lift – This technique targets the inner parts of the thigh. Excess fat and skin is extracted through an incision made in the area where the thigh meets the groin. This approach also corrects reduced skin elasticity and is suitable for patients with substantial sagging skin.
- Medial Thigh Lift – This technique targets the upper third of the inner thigh. Unwanted fat and skin is removed through an incision running from the inner part of the leg in the groin area to the initial crease of the buttocks. This approach involves minimal scarring and quicker recovery.
- Bilateral Thigh Lift (Outer Thigh Lift) – This technique targets the outside area all the way to the front area of the thigh. Excess fat and skin is removed through an incision on top of the leg that extends along the lower edge of the underwear. In order to smoothen the skin on both sides of the leg, a certain amount of skin will be removed in order to allow the remaining skin to be stretched and attached upwards. More complex cases may require an incision that wraps all the way around the hip or buttocks.
The three thigh lift approaches (thighplasty) specialized to target specific areas of the thigh the inner, medial, and bilateral thigh lifts are performed to help patients improve the contour of their thighs after weight loss and aging. During the procedure, excess skin and fat are removed, and the skin is lifted to promote smoother, more natural lines. Woodglen Aesthetics offers thigh lift surgery at our plastic surgery practice in Glendora, and we often meet with patients from nearby communities of San Dimas, Pasadena and Rancho Cucamonga. The thigh lift procedure presents a number of possible benefits such as:
- Tauter, smoother skin
- Less visible cellulite
- Streamlined thighs
Who Can Undergo a Thigh Lift?
Common complaints about the thigh area are saggy skin, thigh circumference, and friction caused by the thighs rubbing together. You may want to consider a thigh lift if you deal with sagging skin of the thighs as a product of weight loss or aging. Ideal candidates are in good general health, non-smokers, and have realistic expectations for cosmetic surgery.
What Happens During Thigh Lift Surgery?
Thigh lifts are usually conducted in an outpatient setting using general or local anesthesia. The duration for the procedure is estimated to last between 2-3 hours. In the approaches to thigh lift surgery, the skin is lifted and redraped after excess skin and fat have been removed.
During the inner thigh lift, the incision is made in the groin area. If the problem area is the upper part of the inner thigh, a medial thigh lift in Glendora will be performed. Here, the plastic surgeon makes an incision beginning in the groin area that extends around the inner thigh to the buttock. During the bilateral thigh lift, the focus is on the excess skin and fat at the outside, and front of the thigh. To access this area, the surgeon makes an incision at the top of the leg and along the panty or bikini line.
How Will I Look and Feel After Thigh Lift Surgery?
Your surgeon may recommend that you begin walking the day after surgery in order to speed the recovery process. Light exercise may be resumed within 2 weeks. Compression garments should be worn for approximately 3-4 weeks following the procedure. Most patients need between 4-6 weeks to fully recover from thigh surgery, though this varies according among individuals.
