Also referred to as body plastic surgery or belt lipectomy, body lift is a surgical procedure performed at Woodglen Aesthetics to reshape and raise sagging body contours. This procedure deals with all the droopy body parts secondary to major weight loss. These procedures restore the distorted body to a more normal state by removing and repositioning any excess tissues distorted by the fat loss.
Procedure
Body lift procedure involves the removal of excess skin and fat through incisions at the waste or a little below it. The length or pattern of the incision could vary depending on the location and the amount of skin and fat that is needed to be removed. Woodglen Aesthetics may recommend some patients to undergo both liposuction and body lift to achieve the results that they desire. Most body lift procedures are typically performed under general anesthesia and require 1-2 nights of hospital stay. However, the procedure may done as an out-patient procedure in some minor cases using a combination of local anesthesia and sedation.
Recovery
For the first 24 hours following a body lift procedure, bed rest is often advised. Drains that are placed to collect fluid during the recovery period are typically removed after about a week. The length of the recovery period varies significantly from person to person, but most Woodglen Aesthetics patients achieve full recovery within 4-6 weeks.
