Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is a procedure to improve the shape and size of the nose to make it more harmonious with the rest of the face. By sculpting the nose through meticulous contouring of the bone and cartilage, the nose is brought into balance. During the same operation, breathing obstructions and some sinus disorders can be corrected. Some ethnic noses like Asian, Hispanic or Black can be altered by rhinoplasty. Woodglen Aesthetics performs rhinoplasty, along with many other plastic surgery procedures in LA County for the face, breasts and body.

Who Can Undergo Rhinoplasty?

Each patient presents a unique face and nose, so each rhinoplasty is slightly different. Plastic surgeons perform this operation in many different ways to meet the needs of each patient. If your nose is relatively large, small, crooked, humped, wide or droopy, surgeons have developed techniques to bring it into balance.

What Happens During Rhinoplasty?

The first step of rhinoplasty in Glendora is a complimentary consultation with Woodglen Aesthetics to discuss the aesthetic goals of the procedure. Although plastic surgeons do not attempt to alter a patient’s nose to match a singular aesthetic ideal, there are aesthetic traits that most people find appealing. These include:

  • Balanced width
  • Balanced projection
  • Straight nasal dorsum
  • Narrow nasal tip
  • Small dip between the dorsum and tip
  • Appealing angle between the nostrils and lips

As stated, each patient requires an individual examination to determine the best individual aesthetic goals for rhinoplasty in Los Angeles. Your consultation with Woodglen Aesthetics provides this opportunity.

Rhinoplasty usually takes about two hours or less to complete. There are two popular techniques that are offered. In the first technique, known as closed rhinoplasty, We make small incisions at the base of the nose, which allow access to refine the cartilage and bone. In open rhinoplasty, the skin of the nose is lifted to allow access for reshaping of the nasal structure. Ask Woodglen Aesthetics about the optimal technique for your procedure.

How Will I Look and Feel After Rhinoplasty?

When surgery is finished, you will be sent home with a splint on the nose and possibly some nasal packing inside the nose. Expect some swelling and discomfort during this time. We will prescribe medications to help you manage pain during your recovery. After about 1 or 2 weeks, you should be able to return to work or your normal routine. You will be able to see change almost immediately. There is subtle swelling that takes time to subside, as it does, you can get a greater appreciation of the changes in your facial appearance.
